John Kerry has been my favorite since before he even officially threw his hat in the ring. He has the best record on issues that matter to me (civil rights, the environment, foreign policy) of any [serious] candidate in quite some time. His first speech on the Senate floor: defending Roe v. Wade. He voted against DOMA. He's known and respected and even liked internationally.
People talk all about how he seems to have 'flip-flopped' on some of these issues now that he's running for prez. Well, in a word, DUH!. He can't talk about his distaste for DOMA or support of gay rights, or support of choice, or the civil rights amendment, because that would then be ALL anybody focused on, and as we all know, the fundies are better at screaming on an issue till the undecideds go that way.
So please, don't just vote against Bush. For once in a long while we have a candidate worth voting FOR. And understand that politics is a game, and while we'd all like it if candidates could come out and say what they really believe, we all know that's not how you win an election.
